Bhama

Bhama (Malayalam: ­¾®; Rekhita) is an Indian film actress, who hasmainly appeared in Malayalam and Kannada language films. She debutedin 2007 through Nivedyam directed by A. K. Lohithadas.

Personal life

Bhama is the youngest daughter of Rajendra Kurup and Shylaja. She hastwo elder sisters, Reshmitha and Renjitha. She completed her schoolingfrom St Mary's Higher Secondary School & Infant Jesus SchoolManarcad. She pursued bachelors in Sociology bycorrespondence.

Career

Before her entry into the film industry, she was the host of a show onSurya TV titled Thaali. She has also acted in a Christian devotionalalbum. Director Lohithadas, whom she considers her Mentor/Guru casther in Nivedyam, her first movie.^citation needed] Her secondfilm was Hareendran Oru Nishkalankan directed by Vinayan, in whichshe was cast opposite Manikuttan. She paired with VineethSreenivasan in Cycle directed by Johny Antony.

Bhama said that until 2011, she was getting the same kind of roles inMalayalam. She started taking up Kannada film offers, after which shestarted getting fresh and interesting characters in Malayalam.She acted in Sohanlal's Kadhaveedu, where she played the heroinein M. T. Vasudevan Nair's segment and her character was that of amodern girl, a media person, who is smart and energetic. She had asmall but significant role in Vinod Vijayan's segment of DCompany, Day of Judgement, featuring Fahadh Faasil where she played apsycho and wore no make-up. In Rakesh Gopan's 100 DegreeCelsius, she plays a Christian housewife, for the first time, whileshe plays a 15 year old mother in Ottamandaram, directed by VinodMankara.

Playback singing

Bhama has occasionally worked as a playback singer as well. She hadreportedly sung the song "Kannil Kannil", composed by Rahulraj fora film titled Bike; however the film was cancelled andthe song remains unreleased. She lent her voice for the devotionalalbum Maaya Madhavam (2009), and has crooned the title songfor the upcoming children's film Meow Meow Karimppoocha.
